The funeral profession has a history of family-owned funeral homes with deep roots in the local community. Over the last few decades, the funeral home industry experienced a growing trend toward consolidation by publicly traded conglomerates. These conglomerates relied heavily on debt and equity to pay high prices for marquee funeral homes. Rather than passing these savings on to consumers, they opted to raise prices, increasing their profits and paying off their huge debt service.

And these conglomerates rarely advertise their ownership.  Often, there isn't even a name change. Which makes it difficult for the consumer to tell the difference between a family-owned funeral home and a conglomerate-owned funeral home.

We believe that everyone deserves an alternative to impersonal corporate conglomerates. We also believe that everyone deserves to know who owns their funeral home.
