Welfare Funerals

If the deceased was a recipient of a state/county welfare program, the person assuming “Right of Burial” should let the funeral director know as soon as possible in order to determine if funeral expenses can be offset by other sources.

If eligibility is determined, funds up to a maximum of $1,970 for funeral merchandise and services and up to a maximum of $460 for the burial or cremation may be available.

Under certain circumstances, families, friends, and other interested parties may supplement the funeral and burial payments for a combined maximum funeral payment of $4,000.
